Injury can strike at any moment. And to demonstrate this, a short commercial was shot to illustrate the use of Reparil-Gel, an effective muscle pain reliever that provides pain relief from bruising, strains and sprains. After a couple of different scenarios, it was settled on the park scene as being a viable option under the deadline constraints. Shot late afternoon in a Gqeberha park, the talent took on their roles with ease and we managed to wrap it up quickly. To keep consistent with the branding of the product, our talents wore shades of green and red, which was further enhanced during post-production. 3d models and animations were then incorporated fpr the final shots to give audience a clear visual of what the product looks like on the shelves.

Keeping your shots clean

Telling a clear story within milliseconds is vital for short-form adverts . Removing distracting objects helps audience to immediately recognize silhouettes within the frame.

The signage here was a distracting element, pulling focus from the main characters. We used matte-painting and rotoscoping techniques to clean up this shot for an overall more effective opening.

Alternative Ending Sequence

The original storyboard showed the lady first going home and applying the product there, however, during the course of filming the park sequence, we decided to also film her applying the gel on a bench.

Logically, a person would probably not have Reparil on them at all times, but the home sequence felt disjointed without establishing shots and the advert and color grading felt more coherent by keeping it all within the park with green/red tones of the brand.
